On the death of Edna, her sister-in-law, Marcella writes: "Edna passed away Thursday evening at 6:30. The children were sitting by her side. M.E. (Mary-Ellen) said for the last 4 months she really has not been entirely conscious of what was going on. She had another stroke about 2 or 3 weeks ago. M.E. put her in the hospital and then she brought her home. Has been home maybe a week but the Doctor had told them she was only going downhill. She was not congnizant of anything. She simply slept away which was a nice way to go."

“CHESTER WILLIAMS, HIGHLAND CENTER
Chester F. Williams, 89, of Cheyenne, Wyo., formerly of Highland Center, died June 8, 2005, in Cheyenne, Wyo.
He was born Jan. 9, 1916 in Highland Center to Dr. Jim and Grace Williams. He married Marcella Robertson Oct. 21, 1941.
He served during the World War II from 1941 to 1945. He retired from Frontier Refinery after 30 years. He had resided in Cheyenne, Wyo. since 1944. He was a Mason of 64 years, Consistory 32 Degree Legion of Honor and a Shriner. He was a past member of the Oak Spokes Antique Car Club. He was affiliated with the Elks, American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his passion was his old cars.
Survivors include his wife, two children, Marcene VanderHaar of Cheyenne and Warren Williams and wife Christa of Castle Rock, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Warren Williams; and sister, Doris Wolf.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home, Cheyenne, Wyo.
Private family services will be held at a later date.”

Fredrick Steigleder - ObituaryHEDRICK - Frederick 6. Steigleder, 71, of Algona and formerly of Hedrick, died Jan. 24, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Ollie to Ralph and Isabelle Marshall Steigleder. He married Mary Ellen Robertson Oct. 22,. 1960, in Ottumwa.
A graduate of Sigoumey High School, he attended Iowa State University and University of Iowa. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. A resident of Hedrick until June 2001, when he moved to Algona, he had worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works for 21 years and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church.
Surviving are a son, Paul Steigleder of Iowa City; a daughter, Laura Gabor of Algona; four granddaughters; two brothers, Richard Steigleder of Winterset and Sam Flanegan of Council Bluffs; and a sister, Colleen VanDee of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather, Ward Flanegan; and an infant brother, Danny Flanegan.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Pennington Cemetery near Sigoumey with Rev. Joseph Lloyd officiating. Military services will be conducted by Leo Farmer Legion Post No. 19 of the American Legion and Lacy Kerr Post No. 2308 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will begin 1 p.m. today in Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Doug Arendt, Mike Gabor, Roger and Tracy Finnegan, Scott Millikin, and Ray Schwenke.

"HIGHLAND CENTER --Mary Ellen Zook, 59, of Highland Center died of cancer at 5:45 a.m. Jam 4, 1999, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born March 8, 1939, in Ottumwa to Melvin and Edna Bull Robertson. She married Donald Zook on July 10, 1991.
She was a graduate of Hedrick High School, and attended Simpson College. She had been an employee of Union Bank & Trust, and was proprietor of Robertson's Store in Highland Center and Zool Auction Center in Fremont. She was a member of Church of Christ and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is survived by her husband, a son, Paul Steigleder of Iowa City; a daughter, Laura Gabor of Algona; a stepson, Don Zook Jr. of Bloomington, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Dana Wealand of Gibson City, Ill., and Debbie Moser of Sibley, Ill.; three granddaughters; five stepgrandchildren; and a brother, Thomas Robertson of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Bill Payne officiating. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery near Highland Center.
