Notes from Ian Roberts indicate that John's wife was Rebecca Boyd born 1813 and died in 1888.

The following item about John's death appeared in the BROCKVILLE RECORDER for Wednesday, 4th July 1888 under the LOCAL NEWS column......
"Mr. John Steacy, and old and esteemed resident of Brockville,
died about noon to-day, in the 73rd year of his age. Mr. Steacy
had resided in Brockville for many years and was at one time
one of the most prominent builders and contractors in this section.
He had not been in good health for some months previous to his death."The following press report was shared by Myrtle Johnston. She found it
in the 5 June 1981 issue of the Brockville Recorder."Another original Steacy, John wed Rebecca Boyd of Brockville and
settled down there. An architect and builder, John built the building which
housed the Regent Theatre, now the Civic Auditorium and also ........ the
construction of Victoria Hall. John Steacy and David Booth were the city
hall contractors and they put up the building for $28,000."John and Rebecca lived at 3 Pearl Street East, Brockville and also
had a home west of the city. They had ten children. They were the great
grandparents of Adiel Steacy (Steacy the Jeweller), a prominent Brockville
businessman who died in 1965. Rebecca Boyd Steacy died May 11, 1888 and 80
days later John Steacy also died."Adiel Dickenson Steacy was born in Brockville March 30, 1897, the
son of Frederick Boyd Steacy and the former Florence Bell. The jewellery
store business was launched in 1860 by his grandfather Thomas Boyd Steacy,
and Adiel took over on the death of his father, Fred, in 1949. Adiel
actually joined the firm in 1919."The opening sentense appears to indicate that this article is one of a

In this report it is stated that the Township Hall was designed by a famous Brockville architect named John STEACEY. No further information about this STEACEY is given. From the foregoing information it is assumed that this architect was JOHN GRAHAM STEACY.

Saturday, 12th May 1888:
"Mrs. John Steacy, an old and esteemed resident
of Brockville died Last night after a brief illess."Monday, 14th May 1888:
"The funeral of the late Mrs. John Steacy occurred
yesterday afternoon and was very largely attended.
Mr. Steacy is himself very ill and was unable to leave
his residence."
