According to a note on the back of the photograph of Helen, the furs were from a Lynx trapped by her grandfather George Petrie. This picture and information were shared by Carole (Jensen) Feeley.Carole submitted the following note on Augusst 29, 2004:
"Ben Bohn died of a brain tumor before Keith was born. Helen worked for a time as a telephone operator in Musselshell. Her parents kept Robert most of the time and Keithlived with her. She later married Anton Jensen (from Lavina, MT) and theymoved to California. Keith went with them and Robert stayed with hisgrandparents Jensen.
Until the end of his life, Robert told the story of her leavetaking. She said to him, "I'll see you someday." He thought she said, "I'll see you Sunday," and on Sunday he looked for her. Whenever Robert told that story he would cry. Imagine his feeling of abandonment.Helen became pregnant and died of pneumonia, I believe, during child birth.I have the diary my grandmother kept of her train ride to California to getKeith. Both boys were raised by their grandparents. Keith joined theservice, then settled in California. Robert helped out on the farm until myDad moved out in 1944. Ironically, my dad died on Helen's birthday, March25th."See picture of Robert and Keith with their Robertson cousins in 1921.
