Paul Whittington
AGENCY - Paul E. Whitfington, 82, of Agency, died Jan 8, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
He was born Oct. 16, 1921 to Melyin and Edna Robertson Whittington at Farson. He married Myrtle M. Garrells Feb. 3, 1941 at Lancaster, Mo.
He was a 1939 graduate of Farson High School. He served in the United States Army during World War 11 with the 57th Signal Repair Company. He retired from John Morrell and Company after 40 years in 198 1. He was a member of the Farson Baptist Church, 50 year member of the O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion, past member of the Agency Lions Club, and served on the Agency City Council.
Survivors include his wife; son Gary Whittington and wife Tanimy of Ottumwa; two grandsons, John and Brett Whittington; brother, Lloyd Whittington of Big Creek, Ky.; and sister, Eloise Willhoit of Batavia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marjorie Duke and Carol J. Stanley; and brother, Vemon Whittington.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will be at the Ottumwa Cemetery with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
Visitation will begin 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Terry Willhoit, Mark Willhoit, Rex Duke, Larry Whittington, Ronald Stanley, Jerry Whittington, and John Stemple.
Memorials may be made to the Agency Lions Club.
