M i Olivier SASSEVILLE [scrapbook] was born about 1911. He died on 6 Nov 2000 in Ste-Anne-des-Monts, Quebec.

We visited Olivier in 1989 (See notes for Lt. Col Jean Baptiste SASSEVILLE (1799-1873))

Lucille and I, along with her brother Gerry and Pattie, visited Olivier in 1999 for a second time. On this visit we were given a complete tour of the old house by his house keeper and companion, Mario Rioux. It was like a museum; full of antiques accumulated over the past 166 years. We suggested he should turn the place into a museum and open it to the public but he didn't think much of the idea. Before we departed I gave him a copy of my report "YOUR FRENCH CONNECTION' which he appeared to appreciate a great deal.

Later, on Dec. 2, 2000 Solande (LEPAGE) Smith called me from Pasadena, Texas with the sad news that Olivier had passed away Nov. 6, 2000. She had visited him during the summer and he was not at all well, weighing only about 85 lbs.

At that time Olivier had shown her a copy of my report on "YOUR FRENCH CONNECTION" and she appeared to be most interested in this and had copies made for several of her Sasseville relatives.

Apparently, Olivier had willed the house and contents to the Québec Government to be turned into a museum. They refused to accept it and put it up for sale. It is now open as a Bed and Breakfast establishment but many of the antique household furnishing are still on display.
