When Johann's parents and family split up and some went to Poland he stayed in
Germany to work for his Uncle, Valentine Schreiner of Breunigweiler. There he
met his cousin Katherina whom he eventually married.

Johann and Katherina came to America in 1857, landing in New York, and
eventually finding his way to Dahlonega Twp., Wapello County, Iowa where his
sons had settled several years earlier.

Although the records show that he is buried in the Dahlonega Cemetery, a visit
there (96-06-05) didnot turn up a grave stone. The record of the cemetery does
not show a Ritter although it is stated that some 27 stones could not be read.

George Christian and his wife Eva Schneiner had 10 or 11 children. The
parents, along with 6 of their children, went to Poland in 1819. The other four
children eventually went to America.

The Ritter History shows the marriage date of George and Eva as 1786 whereas
Virginia gives the marriage as 24 Feb 1789. Their oldest child, Lorenz Philip,
was born in 1788. Something is wrong!!!!!!!!

Eva Schreiner [Parents] was born in 1768 in Wattenheim, Germany. She died about 1850 in Gunzig, Poland. She married George Christian Ritter-II in 1786 in Wattenheim, Germany.

See notes for her husband, Rin #305.

The Ritter History states that Johann Philip Ritter went to work for his
Uncle, Valentine Schreiner of Breunigweiler who had a large farm and needed
help. Johann stayed with his uncle for 7 years and during that time fell in
love with his uncle's daughter, Katherine and married her.

Virginia Owen Graham states that Johann Philip Ritter's wife was Catherina
Margaretha Schneiner and that her father was Johannes Schreiner and her mother
was Anna Margaretha STUMPH. This needs checking as it does not agree with the
History Book.
