André KEABLE [Parents] was born in 1800 in Matane, Québec. He was christened on 21 Sep 1800 in Rimouski, Québec. He died on 5 May 1845 in Ste-Anne-des-Monts, Gaspé, Québec.. He married Henriette ROY on 30 Jul 1832 in Matane Mission, Québec.

Information from family records but sketchy.

Andre KEABLE and his wife Henriette ROY are shown in CARBONNEAU's book
as the parents of Marguerite Esther KEABLE but their parents are not given. No dates are shown. However, Andre's parents are given by COMEAU and further information about place and date of marriage, date of death, and age is given in DENIS-RIVERIN.

Andre and Henriette had seven children who were married between the
years 1850 and 1891: Angelique, Henriette, (Marguerite) Esther, Andre, Joseph, Jerome, and Lucie.

After writing the above, data were found in the FHC of the C of LDS in three
separate files: (TROT=CR), (177T-74P), & (1787-77K).These provide the birth
date and place as well as parents.

Henriette ROY [Parents] was born on 24 Dec 1813. She died on 18 Feb 1900. She married André KEABLE on 30 Jul 1832 in Matane Mission, Québec.

Information from FHC (177T-75W) & (1787-785), CARBONNEAU, COMEAU, AND DENIS-RIVERIN. See also notes for her father.

Information about the wife of André KEABLE is very sketchy. CARBONNEAU show her as Henriette ROY. COMEAU (pages 204 & 318) also shows his wife as Henriette ROY and gives her father as Joseph ROY and mother unknown. Hoewever, DENIS-RIVERIN (under Roy, pages 200 & 210) shows the parents of Henriette as Henri ROY and Victoria GAGNON. He also lists her under Keable (page 66).

Family stories bestow on her the dubious credit of being a witch since, it was claimed, she was the seventh daughter of the seventh daughter etc. for seven generations. It is claimed she prophecied the breakup of the British monarchy towards the end of the 20th century or early in the 21st century.

Henri DUMONT [Parents] was born on 14 Jan 1780 in Rivière Ouelle, Québec. He married Angélique LÉVESQUE on 17 Jan 1803 in Riviere Ouelle, Quebec.

Henri is shown, along with his parents, brothers, and sisters in Généalogie des Familles de la Rivière Ouelle by L'Abbé Adolphe Michaud. He was the sixth child in a family of 12 children, born between 1772 and 1795. It is assumed that he was born and married in Rivière Ouelle.

Angélique is mention in the Généalogie des Familles de la Rivière Ouelle by

They had the following children:

Charles LEPAGE [Parents] was born in 1753. He married Marie-Anne GUYON (DION) on 9 Jul 1781 in Cap St-Ignace, Quebec, Canada.

Information regarding the ancestors of the Sassevilles and of the Lepages was
obtained from the following:

1. "Dictionnaire National des Canadiens Francais (1608-1760)"; by Monseigneur
Irenee Lussier; Institut Genealogique, Drouin 4184, Rue St-Denis, Montreal,
Canada.

This consists of three volumes; the first two contain information on marriage
date and place, and parents of the bride and groom. The third volume contains
family histories extracted from the press, obituaries and other publications.

2. "Dictionnaire Genealogique des Familles Canadiennes" by Mgr. Cyprien
Tanguay; 1871-1890; Seven volumes; Eusebe Senecal & Fils, Imprimeurs-Editeurs, Montreal.

This contains much the same information as the first source but in many cases
it provides additional information on birth and death dates and places.

According to records contained therein, Charles LEPAGE (Rin #131) and his wife Marie-Anne DION (Rin # 132) had the same great-great grandparents, viz.
Guilllalume BAUCHE (Rin #219) and Marie PARADIS (Rin #220).

***********There appears to be two submitters with different data. Verification needed.

GAGNON shows Théodore as married to Marie Kameron (sp). He also lists three children, one of which is Andrew (André) who married Henriette ROY.

DENIS-RIVERIN lists several KEABLEs including Marguerite-Esther daughter of André KEABLE & Henriette ROY, but Théodore KEABLE is not shown.

ROY & BEAULIEU show the complete date of the marriage of Théodore KABLE (sp) and Marie Louise CAMERON as well as naming the parents of both.

Marie Louise CAMERON [Parents] was born in 1763 in Montmagny, Québec. She died on 15 Nov 1835 in Matane, Québec. She married Théodore KEABLE on 9 Oct 1787 in Montmagny, Québec.

**********Place of birth needs verification.

They had the following children:

Henri (Joseph) ROY [Parents] was born in 1763. He died on 16 May 1841. He married Victoire GAGNON on 11 Aug 1794 in Ste-Anne de la Pocatiere, Québec.

COMEAU et al show the father of Henriette as Joseph ROY and mother as unknown.

DENIS-RIVERIN, on the other hand, shows the father as Henri, probably from whence Henriette got her name. It is quite likely that his full name was Henri Joseph ROY. Henri's maternal grandfather's name was Joseph

DENIS-RIVERIN shows Henri's wife as Victoire GAGNON. Henri's death is given as 16 May 1841 at the age of 78 years. He had a son, also called Henri, who was born in 1797 and who married Elizabeth Dugas (Dumas dit Marin).

PROULX also provides information on his wife and the date and place of their marriage. He also shows the name as Henri ROY dit Lauzon.

Although TANGUAY shows a Louis Etienne ROY and wife Marie Angélique GAGNON
(V. 7, Pg. 90) Henri (Joseph) is not shown as part of the family.

Victoire GAGNON [Parents] was born about 1774. She married Henri (Joseph) ROY on 11 Aug 1794 in Ste-Anne de la Pocatiere, Québec.

PROVOST shows her as the wife of Henri ROY.

PROULX also shows her as the wife of Henri ROY and gives her parents.

They had the following children:

  M i Henri ROY
  M ii Louis Roy
  F iii Henriette ROY

François- Timothée SASSEVILLE [Parents] was born on 3 Dec 1733. He married Marie Catherine PAYAN on 28 Nov 1758 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.

Information from Tanguay and Jette.

I have followed the above source of information although family records
(incomplete) show Timothée (Thimothée) as married to one Catherine St-Onge. The place and date of marriage from the two sources checks. Also, family tradition has it that the first Sassevilles came from Brittany, France.

The Dictionnaire by René Jette does not show François-Timothée SASSEVILLE in
the family of Pierre; the record may be incomplete.

Marie Catherine PAYAN [Parents] was born on 25 Nov 1736. She married François- Timothée SASSEVILLE on 28 Nov 1758 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.

Information source - see Charles LEPAGE (Rin #131), see also Tanguay.

Family tradition has it that Marie-Catherine's maiden name was ":ST. ONGE".
Apparently the family (according to custom) acquired this name since the
great-grandfather came from Saintonge (ST. Onge) in France. The added name "St.
Onge" was used to distinguish this line of PAYANS from others coming from other
parts of France.

It is interesting to note that Marie-Catherine's uncle Pierre-Antoine
Payan (b.1707) married (1736) Marie-Louise Sasseville (b. 1717). Marie-Louise
was most likely the aunt of Marie-Catherine's husband Francois SASEVILLE.

They had the following children:

  M i Joseph SASSEVILLE
