MICHAUD shows Jacques and his wife Anne TARDIF as being married in 1694 at Beauport. No other dates or information is given. It appears that Jacque may have gone by the name GUÉRET as did his father. TANGUAY and JETTE both give more information on dates and children.
JETTE notes that, in 1700, Jacques was in the rectory of Mont-Lois where he worked in a saw mill (scieur de long) and was a fisherman.

Tanguay, Vol. 1, gives the name of Anne Tardif's husband as Jacques Guerre
instead of GUERET. This could be a misinterpretation of the hand written
marriage document.

(between years 1700 and 1719) one of which was Marie-Anne who married Jean
DUMONT.Jean-Baptiste came from France and settled in the Kamouraska region of Quebec.

MICHAUD shows eight generations of DUMONTS from René to Philomene who married Alphonse SASSEVILLE. Some birth dates and nearly all the marriage dates are given.
Apparently the family was known as "GUÉRET" in France and, for some reason,
this was changed to "DUMONT" after they were in New France for a couple of
generations.LUSSIER shows the word "Noble" after the French origin of the family. What is the significance of this?
